VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS
You can have the opportunity to enrich the lives
of the animals awaiting their forever homes.
The Fresno Animal Center relies on the help of hardworking volunteers.
Make a difference and sign up!
We accept volunteers of all ages! If under 18, a parent or guardian must accompany the minor.
Fill out an application and wavier.
Must complete a Livescan if volunteering on an on-going bases.
No commitment. We want to make it flexible for you!
HOW TO GET STARTED
CERVIS is the Fresno Animal Center’s Volunteer Software. This software shows the available volunteer opportunities. Volunteers can choose their desired shifts and events they would like to participate in!
STEP 1: Get started by clicking this CERVIS LINK to sign up. Be sure to select your areas of interest(s)!
STEP 2: Fill out this Volunteer Wavier. This waiver requires web signatures.
How you can get the waiver to us:
- Attach the scanned wavier to your CERVIS profile
- Scan the waiver and send to [email protected]
- Fill out the waiver at the Fresno Animal Center
STEP 3: The Volunteer Coordinator will reach out via email to schedule a Live Scan appointment.

LIVE SCAN FAQ’S
WHAT IS A LIVE SCAN?
It is an inkless electronic fingerprinting used to check prospective volunteer and employees’ backgrounds.
WHY DO WE REQUIRE A LIVE SCAN?
We utilize Live Scans to ensure the safety of our clients, animals, and data. Background activity on a livescan does not automatically disqualify you from volunteering.
DO WE HAVE TO PAY FOR A LIVE SCAN?
There is no cost to you for a Live Scan.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING FOR A LIVE SCAN?
You will need to bring a valid form of ID and a waiver must be filled out.
WHERE DO WE GO TO GET A LIVE SCAN?
Live Scans are administered at Fresno City Hall – 2600 Fresno St, Fresno, CA 93721 by appointment only.
IS MY INFORMATION KEPT CONFIDENTIAL?
Your information is kept confidential and it’s not shared with any Center staff, ever. It is only ever reviewed by trained professionals with proper clearance.
